21 Day Fix was much more enjoyable than Insanity for me. It was still a challenge but the workouts were actually doable. Instead of 40-60 minute workouts, all of the workouts are 30 minutes. It also came with the little containers that you see in the image below which made meal planning idiot proof.
The only downside to 21DF is that you need a few weights and preferably a yoga mat. There are also zero “off” days, only active recovery days. 21DF consists of 7 videos that you repeat each week for 3 weeks (and then repeat). See below for the schedule.
Day 1 = Total Body Cardio
Day 2 = Upper Fix
Day 3 = Lower Fix
Day 4 = Pilates
Day 5 = Cardio Fix
Day 6 = Dirty 30
Day 7 = Yoga
There are also a few bonus videos which you can swap out with some of the regular workouts or add on for a bonus. The workouts are all very challenging but doable but can get boring if you try to repeat the program multiple times.
What I love about the Beachbody programs is most of them come with a meal plan and can all be streamed on your phone or laptop at home. I love coming home and doing the workouts while prepping dinner or doing chores because I always need a longer break than is given between reps. If you are the self-disciplines type who will turn on the workout day after day then I highly recommend Beachbody, but if you are the type that needs a little more accountability, maybe one of the gyms or programs I will be talking about in later blog posts will be better suited for you.
Right now Beachbody is offering their All-Access Pass which includes EVERY Beachbody workout (600+ workouts) and all of the meal plans for 3-months for $39 OR the 12-month Challenge Pack which includes all of the workouts and meal plans for an entire year for $160 plus a 30-day supply of Shakeology.
Shakeology is known as your “daily dose of dense nutrition” – kind of like a protein shake on steroids, but not actually steroids. There are many testimonials on how it changed peoples lives but I have to say I probably wouldn’t order it again, but what do I know?! More than anything, the price was just a huge turn off for me. It is $130 per month with a small discount if you are a Beachbody Coach or if you have it set to a subscription instead of just ordering it one month at a time. They do offer vegan options too and to be honest I enjoyed the taste of the vegan chocolate much better than the regular even though I am not vegan.
