Does anybody else love the feeling of being sore after a hard workout? It is probably one of my favorite feelings. Knowing I just pushed my body (and mind) to a new level, lengthened my body just an tiny bit longer, held my plank for just one more second or beat my last run by a fraction of time, gives me the best high in life.
My goal is to work(out) my way through Houston, Texas trying new gyms, routines, instructors, programs, you name it, then blogging about my experiences to help educate you on which fitness and health programs are the perfect fit for you!
I will be trying new classes every week and reporting back to you everything you could ever want to know (plus more) about the experience. Was the facility clean and have the proper equipment? Were the staff and instructors friendly and knowledgeable? Do they offer classes or just do-it-yourself workouts? How much did it cost? How was the traffic/parking situation (Ugh, Houston)? What are their hours and schedules like? Etc. Etc. Etc. … Like I said, everything you could ever want to know, and then more! If I don’t cover what you want to know in my posts, leave a comment and I will happily answer you back.
So why exactly am I doing this? My whole life I have spent battling with body image and self-esteem issues. Working out has been my therapy. It changes the negative images I have of what I think my body looks like to positive feelings towards what my body is capable of achieving. Maybe it’s the endorphines, or the challenge of pushing myself just a little harder or the overwhelming feeling of completing a workout or exercise that I didn’t think I was capable of, but working out has always been able to pull me out of a dark place. I want to be able to show people that working out doesn’t have to be an overwhelming experience. Walking into a gym filled with weights and machines and big burly guys grunting and slinging sweat everywhere can be overwhelming, but finding a routine that works for you doesn’t have to be. There are hundreds, dare I say thousands, of gyms and programs in the Houston area that you can join and my goal is to try as many as possible and do all of the research for you so you can find your perfect fit and be on your way to a happier healthier version of the already beautiful you!
